Political scientists and economists have been increasingly taking advantage of the robust visualization and analysis capabilities of GIS. We include below our curated list of political science and econ data sources (sociologists and anthropologists might like these too): some spatial, and some, non-spatial data. Let us know if there's a great source you want us to add. Remember that for social sciences, the lion's share of the mapping work is actually aggregating your spreadsheet data to a spatial unit, rather than by respondent.
